Operation Christmas Child (OCC)

Organized by Samaritan’s Purse, OCC is a hands-on project that brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes packed by Canadians. It is one way to remind children suffering as a result of war, poverty, famine, disease, and disaster that they are loved and not forgotten.

Throughout the entire year we collect items to pack into shoeboxes at our shoebox packing parting in the middle of November. We also have a “toy toss” in October or November during the morning worship service.

In 2020 we packed 334 shoeboxes! Thank you so much for your continued support and donations.

We are always collecting items for kids who will be blessed with a shoebox full of presents. Some ideas: toothbrushes, bars of soap, small tools (hammer, screwdrivers, tape-measure, etc).

At Lawson Heights Alliance Church, we have an annual Shoe box packing party on a Friday in November. In 2019 we packed, 346 shoeboxes, 2018 we packed 236 shoeboxes, in 2017 we packed 282 shoeboxes and in 2016 we packed 272.

Alliance Missions

As part of the Alliance thrust into the 21st Century and with a view to hastening the return of our Lord and King, we have identified four areas of the world that are home to millions of these ‘least-reached.’   To identify these regions and make it easy to remember them in prayer, we have created the Five S Venture to underscore our desire to reach these peoples. The five S’s are: Silk Road, Caribbean Sun, Desert Sand and Asian Spice. and Sea to Sea.

  • Silk Road: From Turkey to northwest China, through to Iran and Tajikistan.
  • Caribbean Sun: Sharing the message of Jesus Christ in Latin America.
  • Desert Sand: More than 150 million people call the Desert Sand region of Africa their home.
  • Asian Spice: Taking the gospel to the Far East.
  • Sea to Sea: Canadian church planting
