“Our heart & soul is to connect people with the living and powerful God.”

In the coming weeks, we’ll update you with some specific ways you can pray for us. At this time, please pray:

  • That our team would grow in faith before we go and God would help us prepare to go
  • That Dan & Jenica would be empowered by the Holy Spirit to lead C3 students
  • For Ray & Cindy, site coordinators, who take care of all the Alliance missions teams that travel to Mexico City
  • That God would be working in the hearts and lives of the people that we will meet and minter to
  • Thank God for the Good News of Jesus Christ that changes lives forever!

--- Team Mexico Update Blog

History repeats itself itself

Our family has had a lot of exciting developments and projects in the last few months. I was able to help lead a ministry conference in March, we put our house up for sale in April, participated in ordination meetings in May, and in June we have our youth group wind-up, Alliance General Assembly in Calgary, Soccer games and a tournament, Men’s Fishing Trip, KidZone wind-up as well as many birthday celebrations. It’s been a fun season and I’m looking forward to leading a Missions Trip on July 1st.

Here we are today, hoping and praying that God would sell our house, and the scenario feels kinda similar.

On June 22, 5 years ago, we finally received an offer to sell our house in Virden, Manitoba after a year on the market. Then, a storm blew through town, the pump station backed up and basements on our street were all filled with sewage on June 23 (Jari’s Birthday). So we quickly drove to Manitoba, cleaned it up, just in time for some over-land flooding. Then we cleaned it up again and God sold our house! All of this taking place two weeks before I led a team to on a short term missions trip.

So here we are, getting ready to head to Mexico City in July again, with a house for sale again, Jari’s Birthday again, and we’re trusting God again. And just as he provided a miracle and our house sold 5 years ago, we are anticipating his divine providence again.

Philippians 4:19 – “And my God supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 – “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Thanks for your treasures

Many people donated their unused items and we were able to sell most of them at a garage sale. We are very thankful for everything that was donated. We were able to raise $664 for our Mexico Missions Team.
I’ll  be honest, it was a lot more work than I realized. At first, it seemed like we’d have barely enough stuff to make this a big sale, but then the stuff came pouring in and we had lots and lots to sell. Then I was a little stressed as the weather forecast looked pretty gloomy, but the rain stayed away and there were still a lot of customers.
This was also a great opportunity for our team to work together and interact with people from our community.
So thanks to those who donated their time and treasures.
– Pastor Tyler

Half Way There

We are very thankful for those who have donated through the Sunday morning offering and through our Dessert Auction. We are currently half way towards our team goal of $8000. We have also purchased our plane tickets. However, tickets were a little more than budgeted, which means we may need to raise an additional $1200. We’ll keep you updated. In the mean time, we’re still in fundraising mode and looking for people to donate items for our church garage sale which takes place June 2nd.
What makes our trip truly unique, is that the 6 of us will be partnering with 6 locals from Mexico City who are also fundraising as we make the trip together to the village of San Pablito.

We fly out of Saskatoon on July 1st at 6:15am and arrive home at midnight on July 10. Please pray for our families as we will be away and missing them a lot.

Mexico Team Letter April 2018

On July 1st, many Canadians will be eating pancakes, camping at the lake, watching fireworks, and celebrating our great nation. But not for 6 of us from Lawson Heights Alliance. We’ll be embarking on an exciting short term missions (STM) trip to Mexico. David Harvey, Aaron Gleadow, Janaya MacKenzie, Shawna MacKenzie, Nicolas Peters, and Pastor Tyler Rody will be travelling to Mexico City for a 10 day STM trip.
We have been in contact with the Mexico City site coordinators, Ray & Cindy, and they have created a unique discipleship partnership for us. We will be partnering with Dan & Jenica and 4 students from the C3 church to lead workshops and build relationships in a remote community, San Pablito, 4hrs north east of Mexico City.
We have connections with San Pablito through Heather, our Seamless Link International Worker, who has built relationships with the community and local church through Brave Heart Ministries.
Before we go, we have been discovering more about God’s heart for the nations as we meet together for training and discipleship. In the coming weeks, we’ll update you with some specific ways you can pray for us. At this time, please pray:
  • That our team would grow in faith before we go and God would help us prepare to go
  • That Dan & Jenica would be empowered by the Holy Spirit to lead C3 students
  • For Ray & Cindy Perry, site coordinators, who take care of all the Alliance missions teams that travel to Mexico City
  • That God would be working in the hearts and lives of the people in San Pablito
  • Thank God for the Good News of Jesus Christ that changes lives forever!
We are planning a Dessert Auction on April 21 and garage sale on June 2. At this time, our team goal is to fundraise $8,000. Would you consider supporting us with a small or large donation. Please make cheques payable to “Lawson Heights Alliance Church,” and place it in an offering envelope and on the envelope you can designate it for “Other: Short Term Missions.”
If you’d like to donate online, please select “local advance fund” and then in the Special Instructions you can write “Short Term Missions”
