DISCIPLE

MISSION & VISION

Making disciples who live by biblical values.

Everyone is on a spiritual journey and that journey is unique to every traveler. Finding out where you’re at and where you can go next is as simple as 1-2-3. Find out more…

WHAT IS A DISCIPLE?

A disciple of Jesus is one who exemplifies the character, convictions, and conduct of their Lord Jesus and makes multiple disciples who do the same.

 Our Master Discipler

His name is JESUS
MATTHEW 28:16-20
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Why Being A Disciple Is Hard

Because living like Jesus is a whole life commitment and not a Sunday meeting.

MATTHEW 16:24 Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”

Why Making Disciples is Harder

Our rhythms are off.
Inviting others to live like Jesus and helping them do it means changing the rhythms of your life to actually practice  disciplemaking.

Your Next Step

Connect
with God & Others

Grow
to Follow Christ

Serve
to Act like Christ

Anyone can attend church… but if you’re reading this, or if you’ve been to our church, then you’re probably open to making a connection with God and with other seekers. So, how do you make those connections? Well, we encourage you to read below and then visit our Welcome Centre in the foyer after one of our morning services where someone will give you some information and then help you take the next step!

See, everyone is at a different point in the journey, and everyone’s path is unique to them. So, where do you begin? One of our pastors can walk you through a PDP (Personal-Discipleship-Plan) to help you plan out your growth path.  After that, sign up for our DiscipleMakers Trainings.  This is a training process based on the T4T method (Training 4 Trainers) created by Ying Kai.  This will solidify your faith and give you simple, reproducible and rapid tools to make your own disciples and share the Gospel with others. Then we invite you to try out one of our small groups. Growth is always better and more fun in community with other believers. Just let us know when you want to take your next step…

Jesus was not just a master teacher and He was more than a moral model.  The Scriptures remind us (John 14:6) that the Jesus way; the Jesus truth; and the Jesus life, works in real life, and this is what Jesus said His way, His truth, and His Life was all about… “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45). There are many ways to serve if you know how God has wired you, but we can also help you experiment or try out some ways to serve to find your favorite fit. Check out the Welcome Centre or call the church office.

To the left you can see a diagram that we use at Lawson that describes (generally) all the spheres of influence, relationship and activity in YOUR life – your ‘Life Network’.  So, when you ask “Where can I serve?” just look around you.  Who in your Life Network is in need?  Not necessarily the ‘holding out a tin cup on the sidewalk’ kind of needy.  Who around you has a need that you can meet?  Who’s lonely-discouraged-mourning-sick-hurt-broke-broken-angry-fearful? Just think, you could be like the hands and feet or voice of Jesus to the others around you.

  • Prayerfully ask Jesus to help you see those in your Life Network with His servant eyes.
  • And then ask the Holy Spirit to enable you to meet their need in the name of Jesus.
  • Then ask Him to reveal God-prepared-people, people God is preparing to meet you so they can hear from you the Good News of Jesus.

As the Scripture says…”Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name

of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”  (Colossians 3:17)
